The Toler Story

Toler Tools began with a simple need and a spark of frustration.

While our founder Michael Newman was finishing his degree in mechanical engineering, his wife was running a food truck called The Coop. Between classes and late-night study sessions, he was often called in to fix things on the truck—leaks, bolts, loose fittings—whatever needed attention. To keep up, he started carrying more tools with him, hoping to make quick fixes and get back to work.

One day, wedged under a counter trying to stop a leak, Michael found himself wrestling with the same multi-tool he always carried. It just wasn’t cutting it—especially when it came to nuts and bolts. That moment lit the spark for what would eventually become the Omnilock.

He began sketching ideas for the kind of multi-tool he wished he had. Something more capable, more intuitive. A tool that didn’t compromise function for convenience. With a fresh approach to wrench design and a deep understanding of mechanical principles, he set out to build a better tool—one that could actually keep up with the job.

That idea became Toler Tools. And it’s still what drives us today: building tools that solve real problems, born from real experience.

We Built a Prototype.

After a long and focused design phase, we built our first prototypes. Even in those early iterations, the potential of the tool was clear. With that momentum, we moved confidently into the crowdfunding phase, ready to show the world the most versatile multi-tool ever made.

We Took Off.

Our early supporters saw the potential in the Omnilock and gave us the momentum to bring the vision to life. Their belief in the tool turned an idea into a fully funded reality.

We Overcame.

What we didn’t know at the time was that a global pandemic was just beginning to unfold. As our first production run got underway, everything changed. Supply chains broke down. Timelines slipped. The world turned upside down.

Like so many others, we faced challenge after challenge. But with persistence, resourceful planning, and an unwavering commitment to the vision, we pushed through. By 2024, we reached full production—and from there, things began to move.

We steadily increased our shipping rate, and on April 1st, 2025, we sent out the final unit from our initial run of over 10,000 tools.

Where We Are Now.

Now we’re ready for what’s next. We’re in stock, shipping daily, and more excited than ever to put our tools in your hands.
